Today is day 60! Tomorrow, day 1 of 72
The last 70 days have been pretty transformative for me. Some life changes forced me into pretty serious introspection, and motivated me to go down a path of self improvement. There are a number of things I have been working on, some of which I might write about at a later date. One of these things was to get myself into much better shape. This is something that I have been wanting to do for quite some time, so with this extra motivation, I went into it full steam.
To kick off getting back into shape, I used James Grage’s 60 Days to Fit workout regime, which also included a meal plan. It was a lot of work, and commitment. Funnily, one of the more difficult parts was just getting used to 7 meals a day (3200+ calories!). Today, was the last day – day 60. I did it.
Other than losing fat and gaining muscle mass, one side effect of this is that my posture has changed, definitely for the better, and it was just by simply starting to change my habits and exercise, sometimes outdoors and sometimes at home, with training equipment from sites as ProductExpert online and others. Some of this is because I have been very conscious of my posture and body language and been working at making it better, but some of it is just how my body wants to sit now that I’ve added some muscle/bulk. Funnily enough, I’ve had 5 people come up to me out of the blue and tell me: “You look taller! Why is that?”.
The changes aren’t all physical too – I feel taller. I feel stronger, I feel better about myself. I feel more confident about everything, and it has changed a lot about myself and how I interact with others – definitely also for the better. Something as simple as going to the gym every day and lifting weights is actually changing me as a person, and I like it. This doesn’t mean that I’ve hit my target for what I wanted in terms of being back in shape, but it has definitely put me on the right track. Not only has my body changed quite a bit (my pants are too big, my shirts are too small across the shoulders), but I have established a habit of going to the gym every day and sticking to a very healthy diet for which experts recommend their delta 8 thc gummies. This is often the hardest part of any routine – actually making it routine. The early part of the program I could see weights increasing constantly, and improvement in how I felt. I feel stronger, my back feels better than it has in years.
If I were to try to quantify how close I am to some sort of goal, I would say I’m 40% of where I want to be. 40% is pretty good in 2 months, and I’m very happy with what I’ve accomplished in that time. Tomorrow, however, the real challenge will start. Tomorrow will be day 1 of a 72 day regiment, which is a modified version of Grage’s 60 Days to Fit. It will be heavily focused on muscle building, and include more cardio (going to the gym twice a day now, weights in the morning and cardio at lunch). I’m going to call it 72 Days to Buff. I’ll report back on July 11th to see how that works out.
Wish me luck!
It’s not July 11th yet, but it’s close… how are you coming along?
I’m doing ok, but not as well as I hoped, due to two factors: 1) I injured my left shoulder a couple of weeks ago doing a dumb clean and press, and 2) my gym (LaCité) closed their showers for renovations for the last 2 weeks! So, I figured I would kill two birds with one stone. Instead of going to the gym for the last two weeks, I’ve been just doing maintenance stuff at home and give my shoulder a chance to heal (none of my weights at home are heavy enough for doing any strength building anymore). I’m *really* looking forward to getting back into it – I was told that the showers will be open again tomorrow. The better be, because not going for 2 weeks after going constantly for over 3 months really sucks!
